When we scoured the Earth for the cheapest and yet highest quality ski resort, we found ourselves in Romania, the Poiana Brasov resort to be precise. This is the cheap and cheerful style ski resorts so to speak, but with beautiful scenery and excellent tuition to boot.
The resort itself was purpose built, however not by the world's greatest designer. Buildings seem to be scattered around at some distance to each other, however there are regular bus services and a good taxi service to. Situated in the Carpathian Mountains, this quaint ski village is only a short drive from Brasov and only 75 miles from Bucharest.
There is constant development in this area, which would indicate that this low cost ski holiday resort will only get better in the future. Some of the hotels in the village are well above the standard that you'd come to expect at such a low price and this will soon include the 182 room Radisson Poiana Brasov.
